Why I’m Not Rushing to Buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6 (And Maybe You Shouldn’t Either)
The GTA 6 Hype Train Is at Full Speed
Let’s face it — GTA 6 is going to be massive, and every PlayStation fan is feeling the excitement. Rumors, leaks, and speculation are flying, especially about what this game will look like on the upcoming PS5 Pro.
According to a trusted leaker, Detective Seeds, Rockstar and Sony are working together to make sure GTA 6 runs at 60 fps on the PS5 Pro. Meanwhile, the standard PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might be stuck at 30 fps.
And just like that, the community is divided.
Yes, 60 FPS Is Great — But Is It Worth the Price Tag?
I totally get it — smoother is better. Once you’ve played at 60 fps, it’s hard to go back. But I’m not convinced that GTA 6 needs a PS5 Pro to be enjoyable. In fact, I’m not planning to upgrade at all.
Why? Because we’ve seen signs that the base PS5 can handle 60 fps, at least with proper optimization. Red Dead Redemption 2 — arguably just as demanding — has already been pushed to 60 by modders using the same hardware.
So if Rockstar really wants to give us performance options, they can — even without the Pro.
Cinematic Experience Isn’t Always a Bad Thing
Here’s the unpopular opinion: I’m okay with 30 fps — if it’s rock solid and beautifully presented in 4K. I’m not shelling out $700 just to shave a few milliseconds off of input lag, especially for a single-player story-driven experience like GTA.
Let’s be real — Rockstar games are designed to be cinematic. They’ve always launched at 30 fps on console, then added performance options later. GTA 5 did it, and GTA 6 likely will too.
PC Will Always Be the King of Performance
For those of us who want the best of everything — max settings, unlocked frame rates, mod support — we already know where to look: the PC version. It’s not coming at launch, but it’ll arrive eventually. And when it does, that’s when I’ll worry about performance.
Until then? I’m happy sticking with my PS5 and enjoying the ride.
Final Thoughts — Wait Before You Upgrade
Don’t get me wrong — the PS5 Pro looks promising. If you’re itching for higher frame rates across all your games and don’t mind the cost, go for it. But for many of us, value matters more than frame rate bragging rights.
GTA 6 is going to be amazing whether it runs at 30 or 60 fps. I’d rather save the money for in-game content or a future PC upgrade than rush into hardware I may not need yet.
Your Turn: Would You Buy the PS5 Pro Just for GTA 6?
Let’s talk — are you tempted to grab the PS5 Pro just to experience GTA 6 at 60 fps? Or do you think the base PS5 still has more to give?
