It’s the power supply vent area. If you take your PS5 panels off and then take the fan out, shine a flashlight down that hole. You’ll see an area with a bunch of little holes – this is housing the power supply. When these holes get clogged with dust, no air can get through and the power supply ends up overheating after a while and forcing your console to shut off

The proper way to clean it would be to disassemble the whole thing (youtube it) and clean it out fully – there’s an entrance set of holes and an exit. A very small vacuum attachment might work. If you’re really not able to do that I guess you can spray canned air into it to unclog the holes, although it just pushes dust into the PSU area which isn’t ideal.

I had this problem but I took the ps5 apart and cleaned it. What I did was take the fan out but not unplug it. At the bottom of the PS, there’s this cheese grater-looking thing and it was clogged with dust. Use an air compressor can, a vacuum, and a toothbrush to clean that cheese-grater-looking thing. When I cleaned it and put the PS back together, I let Elden Ring on for like 3 hours with no issues. I also noticed that when my PS would turn off and overheat, the heat was always concentrated at the bottom backside of the PS ( where all the wires are) and not the middle back side. Now that it’s been cleaned, the heat seems to be evenly spread over the backside of the PS. Highly recommend cleaning the cheese grater-looking piece of metal inside your PS if this is happening.

Why does the console turn off? It overheats so much that it doesn’t even show the “Your PS5 is running hot” prompt. After I cleaned the console of dust and placed it horizontally further away from my PC everything went back to normal. I had my console vertically close my PC and it turned off after 1 hour of gameplay. Now everything is normal, all good.
